Air Supply – The One That You Love
“The One That You Love” – Single by Air Supply from the album The One That You Love
B-side: “I Want to Give It All”
Released: April 30, 1981
Label: Arista
Songwriter: Graham Russell
Producer: Harry Maslin
Charted No.1 in US
This was their biggest hit, and it was typical Air Supply, expanding upon their constant theme of the starry-eyed troubadour reflecting on matters of love. The universal nature of this romanticism (and perhaps the fact that the singer’s declarations of devotion were not always reciprocated by the person he was singing about) no doubt contributed to the band’s wide appeal.
It was written by member Graham Russell. The song reached No. 1 in the United States, topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart on 25 July 1981 and remaining there for one week; it is the duo’s only No. 1 hit. The song’s lead vocals are sung by Russell Hitchcock. Graham Russell provides backing vocals on this song.

Lyrics:
Now the night has gone
Now the night has gone away…
Doesn’t seem that long
We hardly had two words to say…
Hold me in your arms
For just another day
I promise this one will go slow
Oh…
We have the right to know
We have the right to know
Don’t say the mornings come
Don’t say the mornings come so soon…
Must we end this way
When so much here is hard to lose…
Love is everywhere
I know it is
Such moments as this
Are too few
Oh…
It’s all up to you
It’s all up to you…
Here I am
The one that you love
Askin’ for another day
Understand the one that you love
Loves you in so many ways
